Van-tastic!

Ok, so it's been a while since we last posted - due (as ever) to how busy we are! We've been so busy, in fact, that we've been working both Saturdays and Sundays, as well as our weekdays, in order to get jobs done for our customers as fast as we can! Even though the weather of late leaves a little to be desired, we've experienced no shortage of work as a result! We've managed to fit in small outdoor jobs (gardening, hanging gates, fencing etc.) during the sunny spells and, thankfully, the rest of our work has been indoors!

Dad has got himself a new van (we'll put pictures up soon) and spent the last fortnight in Westbury-on-Trym doing interior decoration/renovation, whilst Handyman Mike was working on a couple of bathrooms and picking up on all the small local jobs. Plus, during that fortnight, Handyman Mike got his van sign-written which has been a big success. We're already picking up more work as a result of people seeing the van out and about locally! Here's a clearer shot of the side for you:

So, everything's looking very good at the moment (especially the van!) ;-) This week and next we are doing more bathrooms and a kitchen, plus we're getting sign writing done on Dad's van, so it's all go! Just how we like it...

A cracking job!

Typical. Back to work after a rainy Bank Holiday weekend and the sun is beating down! Never mind - it's always nice to have the extra day off no matter what the weather! Last week saw Handyman Mike and Dad fitting in a few more jobs outdoors, including repairing that nasty looking crack you can see above. We were glad to be able to fit that job in, to be honest, as a wall like that with the weight of the garden bearing down on it could easily give way at any point. And, considering all the heavy rain we had on Sunday, our timing couldn't have been better!

Here Dad is, working hard again (notice how he loves to pose for our blog photos) and doing a lovely job, as ever! So, this week we're indoors laying some solid wood flooring and doing some decorating. It's a bit of a shame to be inside today but the weather is meant to take a turn for the worse so we'll probably be very glad come the end of the week! And, if it does stay sunny, we can always stop on the way home for a refreshment in a nice beer garden somewhere, to reward ourselves for all our hard work! ;-)

Fit for a King

Well, yesterday Handyman Mike and Dad finished 2 weeks work on a lovely house in Bleadon (in fact, it's more a mansion than a house!) and we're so proud of it that we thought we'd take a photo. Here's an aerial view of it, so you can get some idea of the size!

We were very lucky with the weather (only a few rainy days and breezy spells) and Dad has overtaken Handyman Mike in the race to get a tan...or maybe he just needs to wash better... ;-) Here he is on a ladder, enjoying the sunshine and the views.

In fact, it was such a nice place that we're quite sad to move on but at least the weather looks set to stay! We've got some paving and some block walling to do this week, plus we're out and about popping our leaflets through doors, so we're making the most of it that's for sure! And, hopefully, by the time we start on the kitchens and bathrooms we have lined up for next month, the weather will cool down a bit so we feel better about being indoors...

Ring ring

Ok, so it's been a while since we posted last, but that's a good thing in a way because the reason behind it is the fact that we are SO busy at the moment! The weather has been fantastic and it's an ideal time for everyone to have work done to their gardens and exteriors, it seems. Which is great news for Handyman Mike and Dad, as we are able to top up on our sun tans whilst earning a living - what could be better?!

The title of this post (along with the picture) bears reference to our recent change of phone number. We had to move the work line from being answered by the lovely Kate (who is no longer around in the day to take calls) to being based at home with Mum (who is just as charming and friendly, you'll be pleased to know!)

Of course, BT being the wonderful communicators they are lead us to believe that we could keep our existing number but, at last minute, said that we would't be able to due to it being served by a different exchange. Typical. Anyhow, we have put a Caller Redirect message (£20 a month - nice little income for BT!) on our old number and changed all contact details to having our new number:

01934 516166

So, please accept our apologies for the impersonal redirect message on the old number and make a note of the new one! And, feel free to try it out - Mum'll be glad to hear from you! :-)

Brand new

Well, today has seen Handyman Mike purchase a brand new laser printer for the business, in preparation for the brand new leaflets that are set to hit the streets this week! The trusty old inkjet that we had been using just wasn't really up to printing the volume that we need to produce, so we decided to invest in a new Samsung. So far, so good - it's been firing out leaflets faster than Dad can hang doors (which is quite a pace, I can tell you!) .

And so, with our re-branding all but finished (pending our new business cards), we are ready to make the most of these lovely long evenings by delivering leaflets around our local area. We might even be able to convince Mum to lend a hand, so that we can finish in time for a quick pint at the pub on the way home! ;-)

Success story!!

We are pleased to say that, due to the success of the Handyman Mike business since it began last year, Dad has been able to join the team! This is a big boost for the business, as it opens us up to bigger, better jobs than before! For example, we can now take two man jobs such as loft conversions during the week (rather than dragging Dad out on his weekends) and we can use Dad's experience and expertise to fit kitchens and bathrooms in a smaller timeframe than was previously possible.

All in all, 2007 is looking good for Handyman Mike and Dad and we would like to thank our customers for their returning business because, without you, our expansion wouldn't have been possible.
